START GATES

The New Directions Light Tree can do more than provide decoration to your derby. It can plug directly into our new line of electric start gates. To start your races, all you do is aim a wireless remote control at the light tree and press the button. Better yet, give the remote control to one of the younger siblings in the audience, and make him or her the Official Race Starter! Nothing is quite as dramatic as seeing the cars start down the track with nobody near the gate.

START your RACE by REMOTE CONTROL!

There are two basic categories of Remote Start Gates: Latch Activation, and Full Motion

Latch Activation is the most economical, as it makes use of your existing start gate. It depends upon you to reset your gate by hand as you would normally do before each race. Here are three best selling Latch Activation mechanisms for popular track formats.

Latch Activation requires that you have a start gate that is spring-loaded, and "wants to open". Many tracks, especially those which are home built, have gates that are the opposite: They are spring, or rubberband loaded so that they "want to close". In these cases, it is usually possible to make a few simple changes to reconfigure, and make it feasible to use Latch Activation. We will work with you to see if this is possible in your case.

Full Motion is the other activation method we offer. As the name implies, the power of the solenoid is applied to the rotation of the peg bar. Once the power to the solenoid has ended, the gate returns by spring power to the closed state. In most cases, we make a complete custom start mechanism which you install on your track.
