The Spring Thing: The solenoid overcomes a balance of forces between the cars trying to push the gate open, and the spring pulling the pegs upright. Spring tension is adjusted by means of a spring clip which neatly fits into the side grooves of the track. Use only enough tension to get the job done. With all lanes carrying 5 ounce Pinewood cars, there is little need to adjust the spring. But if conditions change, such as racing one or more empty lanes, or unlimited weight classes, you must monitor and be prepared to make tension adjustments. But it is very simple. Just squeeze the clip open and slide it to the right place. The clips are standard items at Staples. That was easy! |
